Microsoft Releases Flash-Challenger Silverlight 3
July 10 – (CNET) – Microsoft has released the final version of Flash-Challenger Silverlight 3, a day ahead of the product’s launch event in San Francisco.
Silverlight 3 has added new features which are not available on its previous versions. One of them is the ability to utilize a PC’s hardware to accelerate graphics processing both on PC and Mac.
According to NBC, Silverlight 3 will be used to broadcast the 2010 Winter Olympics from Vancouver. The technology will allow the Games to be broadcast in 720p HD quality as well as provide a TiVo-like ability to pause and rewind a live stream.
