March 5, 2010 - 2010: Managing SEO Spending Post-recession
Internet Marketing is cheapest way to do business, all because of SEO or search engine optimization. But many are in doubt when it comes to the conversions that it can return. SEO is very cheap, but many internet marketers believe that there is no assurance. This is why there is paid search, something that website owners cling into in hopes for instant traffic.
Whether we admit it or not, SEO was also affected by recession. We can't say if it is negatively or positively, but I believe, both ways. And now that it is over, many changes happened. From the approaches to methods, SEO specialists are left with no choice but to catch up. But this does not mean that we need budget cut. Because with the same manner of SEO spending, you can still get the amount of conversions or traffic that you want. Money does not need to work harder, what should be improved is the marketing strategy.
First, go back to the basics. It may take quite long, but the effectiveness will also last longer. Optimize your pages. Always remember that search engines like Google has already embraced SEO. This means that their algorithm is designed to find and rank the pages that can best match users' queries. You can reach the top by optimising the content of your web pages including the keywords, title and links. This will make your website look like a credible site.
Hold on to your main goal which is conversions, not just visitors. Your site should deal with visitors in a way that it provides what users are actually looking for. Never mind the quantity, work with the quality. There are many ways that you can use to convert visitors into sales. Like the forms, registration and so on.
Use the social media. It is the most visited type of website these days so take advantage of it. It is free and easy to access. This can be a great source of traffic. There are more people going to social networking sites than making their searches. By signing up an account, you can befriend or follow potential customers. Twitter and Facebook are two of the most patronized social media site, maybe you can try them. By creating useful and quality contents on your profiles, you can surely attract more visitors than what you usually get on other SEO strategy.
Reinvent your Pay-Per-Click. Just because your using infamous terms, you'll get instant conversions. This is one of the misconceptions by internet businesses that use PPC. Instead, target more specified searches, that way, you can assure yourself of potential sales because you are exactly dealing with persons that are looking for your product or service. Visitors that you will get are very much relevant to the keywords and the ones being driven to your site through a generic, popular search term.
